How to set Kami as administrator

Administrator Overview
Before you read further, it is important to understand that if you manage a domain for a school or district, you play a critical role in enabling Kami users to use Kami. User management is up to you as an administrator.

Please implement everything that applies to you and your school/district without skipping any steps.
1.
Add Kami extension to all users
Deploy the extension to all your users. This will give them immediate access to Kami and allow them to integrate Kami with multiple document sources, learning management systems, and other file/resource management systems.
Deploy Kami Chrome Extension and Google Workspace Marketplace App
❗️ Due to recent changes to third-party app approval and authorization in Google Workspace for Education, there are required steps you must follow to ensure that your students can sign in to Kami with their school-issued Google Accounts. These changes will take effect for all users under the age of 18 starting October 23, 2023. After that date, students will no longer be able to sign in to Kami with their Google Accounts unless third-party app access controls are properly configured.
Find Apps & Extensions Settings
To get started, sign in to your Google admin account. In the left menu, click Devices > Chrome > Apps & extensions, and finally click the Users & browsers tab to see your settings.
Adding the Kami extension to your domain
After clicking [Users and Browsers], you will be taken to the page below.
1.
Select a parent domain (e.g. your.domain.com).
2.
Hover over the yellow circle button with the icon and select the option directly above it: Add from Chrome Web Store.

💬
✏️ You can also add extensions to individual organizational units by clicking the arrow next to the domain.

Once the Chrome Web Store opens, type “Kami” in the search bar to find the Kami Chrome extension (Kami for Google Chrome™). Click the Kami for Google Chrome icon, then click the Select button.
Finally, click the Installation Policy drop-down and select Force Install to force the extension to install.
✏️ We recommend blocking other PDF viewers like DocHub or Text-Help Read and Write, or at least preventing them from being set as your default PDF viewer.
Having multiple programs active at the same time can be confusing for students or cause conflicts during assignment integration. To disable other PDF viewers, simply find them in the Chrome Web Store as in the previous steps and select [Block] in the installation policy.
Deploy Kami Google Workspace Marketplace apps to a domain or specific organizational unit
This step is important for reducing authentication prompts when users across your entire domain or organizational unit sign in to the Kami app with their Google Accounts and access files in Google Drive.
While logged in with your Google admin account, visit the Kami app page in the Google Workspace Marketplace and click the [Admin Install] button.
Then, a permission request screen will appear. Click the [Continue] button.

Finally, the Administrator Full Installation Consent screen will appear. Select the desired installation target, check the consent items, and click the [Finish] button.

That's it! For detailed instructions on how to whitelist Kami - Google Workspace Marketplace apps for your domain for Google Advanced Protection, see this article .
💬
❗️ The extension is one of the most useful tools for teachers and students. It allows teachers to create Kami assignments and grade them with Kami in their learning management system. Students can submit assignments directly without having to submit them manually.
2.
Create a Kami account to manage/install Kami
To perform the tasks mentioned below, you will need a Kami account. Please refer to
the article on how to create an account.
In many cases, administrators do not understand that they are responsible for managing the users of the licenses they have purchased. We try to make it as simple and efficient as possible so that they do not have to spend a lot of time on this management when it is needed.
If you use Google OUs to manage your licenses, you must create a Kami account with the email you use to log in to your admin account in Google Workspace. This is to ensure that you have the appropriate permissions to add and change Google OU deployments in your licenses.
3.
What should I install?
Each administrator may have different priorities for this section. Check the titles of each section below to see which one applies to you:
A. Third-party apps and network settings, etc.
This first section is required for all users. It is to allow users to use third-party apps, and teachers/students may run into problems if they do not install/approve the following:
Third-party app access control
This article covers each step you need to take to avoid any confusion caused by Google's recent changes.
Due to recent changes to authentication and authorization for 3rd party apps in Google Workspace for Education, you must take required steps to ensure that your students can sign in to Kami with their school-issued Google Accounts. These changes will take effect for all users under 18 starting October 23, 2023. After that date, students will not be able to sign in to Kami with their Google Accounts unless you follow the steps below.
We will walk you through the steps to verify Kami as an approved app for students. Please note that this is a separate requirement from the rollout of the Kami extension and other Kami network requirements.
1.
Configure API settings
Before applying the permission change, you need to make sure that your API settings are correct. Follow the steps below to make sure they are set up as shown in the screenshot.
First, access the API settings by clicking Security > Access & Data Control > API Controls in the side panel of the Admin Console.

Next, click anywhere in the Settings section to expand it, then select Unset third-party apps.
Set these permissions to what best suits your organization's policies.

2.
Check the settings of the third-party apps that have been set up
When you select Save, you will be taken back to this page. Then, select Manage Third Party App Access to proceed to the next step. This will take you to the App Access Control page. Select the Apps Pending Review option.
After that, find the Kami app and right-mouse over it and you will see the Configure access option.

💬
🔍 If you can't find the Kami app in Apps Pending Review, it might be under Configured Apps. Check there and make sure the app is set to Trusted. There are likely to be multiple Kami entries due to multiple scopes. Set all of them to Trusted.
Next, select all the Org units. Then, the Configure access option will appear. Select that option as shown below.
c.
Kami's Access Settings
Follow the steps below. Make sure Kami is set to Trusted.

When you select Confirm access settings, a parental consent form will appear. Read it all and then select Confirm.
Once you've verified, you're all set. Now that your access has been verified, you can log into Kami as usual when these changes take effect on October 23, 2023.
