Canva Create 2024: Reimagining the Future of Work

On May 24, 2024, global visual communication platform Canva held its annual event 'Canva Create 2024' with the theme of 'Redesigning the Future of Work'. The live event was held at the YouTube Theater in Hollywood Park, LA, and a whopping 3 million people participated online. This is a 20% increase from 2.5 million last year. According to Canva, the number of monthly active users has now exceeded 200 million.
“For the past decade, Canva has focused on making design accessible to everyone,” Canva CEO Melanie Perkins said in her keynote. “Now, we’re going to spend the next decade empowering every organization to maximize their creativity and productivity.”
To this end, here are three trends Canva has been paying attention to:

First, the Canva platform, which has been completely revamped, has been released. It has fully implemented AI technology to automate and optimize all tasks, from text to images, videos, audio, and code. Furthermore, it has also been made possible to perfectly apply brand guidelines, allowing users to focus solely on content creation.
The following session presented innovation cases from key departments within the organization.
The marketing team introduced 'Bulk Create', which allows for easy mass custom design production; 'Ad Integration', which handles ad production and publishing in one place; and 'Work Kit', a template package containing proven marketing processes.
The sales department was accelerating sales automation through 'Data Autofill', a customized material creation function based on CRM data, 'Canva Recordings', a video-based suggestion tool, and 'Insights & Analytics', a real-time customer response monitoring function.
In HR, the enhanced in-house training platform ‘Canva Course’ and the ‘Central Narage Base’ for employee information sharing and communication activation stood out. It is now possible to easily produce training content in various forms such as videos, presentations, and whiteboards, and track course attendance in real time.
The creative team has created an environment where professional design work can be handled in one place within Canva, based on synergy with Affinity, which was acquired last year. This means that professional quality can be maintained while simultaneously enjoying the efficiency of collaboration and automation.
Meanwhile, the 'Canva Enterprise' service for corporate customers has significantly enhanced security and management functions. It provides SSO login, centralized license management, and privacy control for AI utilization, meeting the demanding requirements of large enterprises.
Canva's ESG management has also been steadily evolving. The number of trees planted through the 'One Print One Tree' campaign has now surpassed 10 million, and while 100% of its electricity consumption is being procured from renewable energy, it is currently promoting a community solar power generation project in Illinois, USA.
The most applauded segment of the event was definitely the rap performance that decorated the end. The chorus of "Reimagination, Team Collaboration, Visually Designed♬" drew an enthusiastic response from the participants on site. The message was that in an era where most business communication is done through video and images, anyone should be able to express and share ideas easily and quickly.
'Canva Create 2024' vividly demonstrated how a visual communication platform armed with automation and artificial intelligence can transform the way everyone from global corporations to small business owners, educators, and students work.
The word “Magic” that appeared in every session symbolized the leap in creativity that technology can bring, while also reminding us that at its base lies deep, user-centered consideration. This is why Canva, which is available in 223 languages in over 120 countries, is expected to change the “future of work.”
The event attendees seemed to have formed a consensus that “the evolution of collaboration is the advancement of visual communication tools.” In fact, according to Canva, more than 95% of Fortune 500 companies worldwide are using their platform. Like the catchphrase “We are all creative superheroes,” design skills are now established as a new literacy required for all workers regardless of job function.
The 'future of work' that Canva will draw will certainly be more intuitive, dynamic, and creative. While the scope of creativity is infinitely expanded by technological advancement, humans are given the role of thinking about and cooperating with what valuable work to utilize that technology for. The theme of Canva Create 2024, 'Redesign', was aimed at this point. This is why Canva's future, which aims to lead the way of working itself beyond a platform company, is even more anticipated.
