Snorkel's features and functions
Snorkel is an AI-based educational platform developed to revolutionize the learning process of students. The core function of this platform is to record the process of students explaining their thoughts verbally while simultaneously working on the screen. Students can respond to given questions or tasks in various ways, such as drawing, entering text, or inserting formulas.
Once the student completes the response, the AI immediately begins analyzing it. The AI evaluates the accuracy of the student’s response, the quality of the explanation, and provides 2-3 specific pieces of feedback. This feedback is structured to compliment the student’s strengths and provide specific suggestions for areas where improvement is needed.
Features for teachers
Snorkel also provides powerful tools for teachers. In addition to reviewing individual student responses, teachers can view trends and insights for the entire class as analyzed by AI. This allows teachers to understand the learning situation of the entire class and focus on what is needed.
Multilingual support and collaboration features
Snorkel supports over 50 languages, making it ideal for multilingual learning environments. Students can receive feedback in their preferred language, which is a huge help in language learning. It also provides a collaborative feature where students can view and comment on each other’s responses, depending on the teacher’s settings.
How to use and account types
Teachers can create a free account on snorkel.app. A free account allows you to create 20 activities, which is more than enough for most teachers. Snorkel offers a library of pre-made content, but teachers can easily create their own activities. When creating an activity, all you have to do is give it a title, type a question on the whiteboard, and configure the AI settings. The AI settings are mostly automatic, but teachers can modify them as needed.
Future development plans
The Snorkel team is constantly improving the platform. Future plans include a new progress view to make it easier to see students’ progress, improved visibility into standards, and a new feature called ‘Snorkel Coach.’ We’ll also be adding more assignment type options, including an audio-only Canvas option.
Snorkel provides a flexible system that can be applied to all subjects and grade levels. It can be used for a variety of learning activities, from reading comprehension to math problem solving, scientific experiment analysis, and self-reflection.
