WeVideo

WeVideo is a cloud-based video editing and interactive video platform that allows teachers and students to create, edit, and share videos using just a web browser, and to insert quizzes, discussions, and surveys into videos for use in class.

Basic concepts

It's 100% cloud-based, so you can edit videos right in your web browser or mobile app without installing any additional software.
It provides a drag-and-drop timeline editor and has full editing features such as video cutting and pasting, text insertion, transition effects, green screen (chroma key), audio recording, and screen recording.
We have a library of over 1 million royalty-free stock footage, images, and audio files, so students don't have to search for them separately.

Education-specific features

Interactive Video : You can insert multiple-choice and subjective quizzes, discussion questions, and polls onto completed videos, enabling active learning where students can respond and participate directly while watching the video.
Branch Scenario : This can be designed to move to different videos or pages depending on student responses, making it useful for individualized and differentiated instruction.
Real-time collaborative editing : Multiple students can access and edit a project simultaneously, making it ideal for group video projects.
Course Management : Teachers can group video assignments into courses, distribute them, and review and grade student submissions in one place.
Learning Data Analysis : You can check student response data (correct answer rate, viewing time, participation, etc.) for interactive videos in real time and reflect it in improving your classes.
Import Google Slides/PowerPoint : Automatically place existing presentation files on the timeline, then add voice narration and music to turn them into lecture videos.
AI features : AI voiceover that converts text to speech, AI-based subtitle generation, etc. are supported.

Utilization in K-12

Student Video Projects : Create creative projects related to your curriculum, such as science experiment videos, historical documentaries, book trailers, and self-introduction videos.
Storyboard Mode : For students who have difficulty editing the timeline, such as those in lower elementary school, a storyboard mode is provided that allows for simple composition by scene.
Flipped Learning : Teachers create lecture videos, insert quizzes, and distribute them as pre-study materials, while conducting in-depth activities in the classroom.
Screen recording/webcam recording : You can record videos (tutorials, presentations, etc.) where students show their screens and explain things without any additional programs.
Boclips Integration : Integrates with Boclips, a library of secure, educationally-verified video content, allowing you to insert ad-free educational videos directly into your projects.

Use at universities

Lecture Video Production : Professors convert slide-based lectures into videos or add interactive quizzes to lab and hands-on videos to use as asynchronous class materials.
Student Collaborative Projects : Teams work on a single project and edit together to produce documentaries, presentation videos, and portfolios.
VR/360-degree video editing : There are also cases, such as the NC State University case, where 360-degree VR videos are interactively edited in WeVideo and used in simulation-based classes, such as pre-service teacher training.
Peer Review : Students share their videos and other students provide feedback through comment and discussion features.
