Outline

This paper investigates the impact of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) on education and human resource development and the perception of the GenAI generation (students who are being educated with the introduction of GenAI). We analyzed the perception, preparedness, and concerns about GenAI through a survey (including open-ended questions) targeting more than 250 students. The results showed that whether or not they had completed the GenAI education course had a significant impact on their preparedness. Students who had received more education on GenAI were more prepared, while those who had not were more anxious. Although most students responded positively to GenAI, they also had greater concerns about ethical issues, job losses, and the inadequacy of the education system. In conclusion, we emphasize the importance of systematic guidance from educational institutions on the use of GenAI and the cultivation of ethical thinking and adaptive learning skills.

Takeaways, Limitations

Takeaways:
Confirmation of the widening gap in students' GenAI readiness depending on whether or not they have completed GenAI education.
Despite positive perceptions of GenAI, concerns about ethical issues, job losses, and inadequacies in the education system are also growing.
Presenting the educational direction required in the GenAI era and the role of educational institutions.
Emphasize the importance of systematic education on the use of GenAI.
Limitations:
As this is a survey-based study, there is a lack of in-depth analysis of the current state of GenAI use and its long-term impact.
Because this study targeted students from a specific region or university, there are limitations to generalization.
The potential for subjectivity in qualitative data analysis exists.
