Privacy Policy

Effective Date: May 19, 2026
Last Updated: May 19, 2026
Welcome to Sudoku Calm ("the App," "we," "us," or "our"). We take your privacy seriously and are committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share, and protect information related to your use of the App, and what rights you may have regarding that information.
The App follows a data minimization approach. Except where necessary to provide core functionality and limited purchase, feedback, and rating-related features, we do not intentionally process information that is unrelated to the App's functionality.

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to information processing activities related to your use of the App, including playing Sudoku puzzles, resuming unfinished games, using hints, adjusting settings, sharing the App, leaving a rating, sending feedback, making in-app purchases, and restoring purchases.

2. Information We Process

2.1 Local Game Data and Preferences

To provide the App's core functionality, we store a limited amount of data locally on your device, including:
•
Unfinished game data, such as puzzle identifiers, board progress, elapsed time, hint usage, notes state, and mistake counts;
•
Local catalog progress, such as completed or abandoned puzzle states;
•
In-game and global preferences, such as timer settings, sound settings, haptics settings, related-area highlighting, and same-number highlighting;
•
A local membership status cache, such as whether Pro has been unlocked;
•
Local rating-prompt state, such as install date, launch/session count, the last time a rating prompt was attempted, and the last time feedback was initiated.
This information is primarily stored on your device using iOS local storage mechanisms such as UserDefaults. It is used to keep the App working properly, restore your most recent session, preserve your preferences, and improve the timing of rating prompts. By default, this information is not uploaded to our servers and is not used to directly identify you as an individual.

2.2 In-App Purchase Information

The App uses Apple StoreKit to support in-app purchases, purchase restoration, and entitlement validation. To provide these features, we may process a limited set of information, including:
•
Product identifiers and displayed price information;
•
Transaction status, verification results, and current entitlement status returned by Apple;
•
Purchase restoration results;
•
Apple Storefront country or region codes used for limited regional display logic.
Payments, billing, charges, refunds, and related transaction processing are handled by Apple. We do not directly collect or receive your bank card number, Apple ID password, or full payment account details.

2.3 Feedback You Voluntarily Submit

If you contact us through the App's feedback entry and choose to send an email, that communication will be handled by your selected mail app and email service provider. We may receive information you voluntarily provide, such as:
•
Your email address;
•
Your email subject line and message content;
•
Any screenshots, descriptions, or other materials you choose to include.
We use this information only to respond to your questions, suggestions, complaints, support requests, or troubleshooting needs.

2.4 Ratings, Sharing, and External Links

When you use certain features, related actions may be handled by Apple or other third-party platforms under their own rules and privacy practices. For example:
•
Tapping the rating entry may trigger an in-app review prompt or open the App Store review page;
•
Tapping the share entry may invoke the system share sheet and allow you to share the App link through another app or platform;
•
Tapping links such as the Privacy Policy or Terms of Service may open a browser, the App Store, or another external destination.
Please refer to the privacy policies and terms of the relevant third-party services for details about how they process your information.

2.5 System Permissions and Device Capabilities

In the current version of the App:
•
We do not require you to create an account or sign in;
•
We do not actively request access to sensitive permissions such as camera, photos, microphone, contacts, location, Bluetooth, or calendar;
•
The App supports local sound playback and haptic feedback, but does not record audio or upload microphone input;
•
The App does not currently integrate advertising trackers, third-party analytics SDKs, or user profiling services.
If future versions add features that require additional permissions or introduce new data processing scenarios, we will provide notice through an updated policy, permission prompt, or another appropriate method before those features are used.

3. How We Use Information

We process the information described above for the following purposes:
•
To provide and maintain core gameplay and feature functionality, including puzzle play, resume, hints, and settings;
•
To save your local game progress, catalog progress, and preferences;
•
To support Pro purchases, purchase restoration, and entitlement recognition;
•
To respond to feedback, support inquiries, and troubleshooting requests;
•
To perform limited stability, compatibility, and user experience improvements;
•
To comply with applicable laws, regulations, or legal obligations.

4. Storage and Protection of Information

1.
Unless otherwise stated in this Privacy Policy, most of the data processed by the App is stored locally on your device.
2.
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to help protect information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or loss.
3.
However, no method of storage or transmission is completely secure. You understand and accept that risks such as device damage, system errors, jailbreaking, malicious software, accidental deletion, uninstalling the App, clearing local data, or other events not caused by our intentional misconduct or gross negligence may result in data loss.
4.
If you voluntarily send us an email or interact with third-party platforms, relevant information may also be stored in the systems of email providers, Apple, or other third parties and will be governed by their rules.

5. Sharing, Transfer, and Public Disclosure

5.1 Sharing

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
We may share a limited amount of information with relevant third parties only where necessary, including:
•
When interacting with Apple or relying on information returned by Apple for in-app purchases, purchase restoration, product display, ratings, or App Store redirection;
•
When you voluntarily use third-party services through email, the share sheet, or external links, in which case the relevant third party processes the necessary information under its own rules;
•
When disclosure is required by law, regulation, governmental authority, or necessary to protect our legal rights, your rights, or the rights of others.

5.2 Transfer

We do not transfer your personal information to other entities except where required in connection with a merger, acquisition, restructuring, asset transfer, or similar legal or business necessity, and only as permitted by applicable law.

5.3 Public Disclosure

We do not publicly disclose your personal information unless we have your separate consent or are otherwise required to do so by law.

6. Your Rights

Subject to applicable law, you may have rights regarding information related to you, including:
•
The right to know how we process your information;
•
The right to access or correct information stored locally through available App functionality or system settings where applicable;
•
The right to delete locally stored information by clearing App data or uninstalling the App;
•
The right to withdraw consent for future permission-based features through iOS system settings if such permissions are introduced in later versions;
•
The right to contact us with questions, concerns, or complaints.
If you would like to contact us regarding information processing matters, please use the contact details provided below. We will respond within a reasonable period of time.

7. Children's Privacy

The App is not primarily directed to children, but minors may use it under the guidance of a parent or legal guardian. If you are a minor, please use the App only after your parent or guardian has reviewed and agreed to this Privacy Policy.
If a parent or guardian believes that a minor has provided personal information to us without appropriate consent, please contact us and we will review and address the matter as reasonably practicable.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App's functionality, applicable law, or regulatory requirements. Updated versions will indicate a new effective date or last updated date and may be made available through the App, the settings page, a related website, or another appropriate channel.
Your continued use of the App after an updated version becomes effective means you acknowledge and accept the revised Privacy Policy.
