Hey folks 👋🏻 Today, I want to share how Sunrise achieved #3 Product of the Day on Product Hunt on September 24, 2024! These days, Product Hunt is dominated by B2B SaaS, AI, and workplace collaboration tools. Sunrise had to compete as a mobile B2C app focused on mental health journaling. Let me share our journey from preparation to launch day. 1. Why Did We Launch on Product Hunt? We wanted to gather feedback from diverse global users. Product Hunt stood out as the most well-known global platform for product discovery. Plus, it was completely free to promote our product, making it even more attractive. To explain Product Hunt briefly: it's a site where global products compete for rankings over a 24-hour period. An average of 30-40 products launch daily, with only the top 5 receiving "Product of the Day" badges. If you're planning to launch on Product Hunt, I'd recommend aiming for the top 5 from the start. Through our research, we learned this was the ideal timeframe, and during our preparation, we understood why. I'll explain more in points 2) and 3)! Launch Materials You need a tagline and product description.You also need to prepare a demo video and around 5 images that showcase your product's strengths and the problems it solves. Users see many products simultaneously, so they only click on products that are easy to understand and interesting. The demo video appears at the top of your product page, and since many people first understand your product through the video, we highly recommend putting extra effort into it. Community Engagement Product Hunt is essentially a community of makers. Building rapport with community members is crucial. Engage by commenting on other makers' products, participating in discussions, and sharing your opinions actively. You can also connect directly through LinkedIn and X (formerly Twitter) links on users' profiles. Direct communication can be as simple as "Congratulations on your launch, rooting for you, please support mine when I launch." ❗️Important Note: Through our research, we learned it's not recommended to directly ask for upvotes.
