A Night of Poetic Brilliance: Seong-Jin Cho & LSO at the Barbican
Hello everyone! As a HereWeHa Global Supporter, I am back to share my experience of one of the most anticipated classical events in London this year. On February 12th and 15th, 2026, the legendary London Symphony Orchestra (LSO) and the world-renowned pianist Seong-Jin Cho graced the stage of the Barbican Hall. This performance was a part of Cho's "Artist Portrait" series with the LSO, a residency that showcases his incredible versatility and depth. The Program (Setlist) The evening was a masterfully curated journey through Romanticism and Neoclassicism, led by the charismatic conductor Gianandrea Noseda. Stravinsky: Divertimento from 'The Fairy's Kiss' Chopin: Piano Concerto No. 2 in F minor, Op. 21 Encore (Feb 12): Chopin Waltz No. 12 in F minor, Op. 70 No. 2 Borodin: Symphony No. 2 in B minor February 12th Performance Review The Poet of the Keyboard The atmosphere inside the Barbican Hall was electric. From the moment Seong-Jin Cho stepped onto the stage, a hushed reverence fell over the audience. Performing Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 2, Cho reminded us why he is considered one of the greatest Chopin interpreters of our time. His touch was delicate yet firm, capturing the "opera-like" drama of the second movement (Larghetto) with breathtaking sensitivity. The way he handled the recitative sections felt like a private conversation with the audience. Noseda and the LSO provided a lush, sonorous backdrop that perfectly complemented Cho's crystalline fingerwork. For the encore, his rendition of the Chopin Waltz Op. 70 No. 2 was a masterclass in rubato, wistful, elegant, and deeply moving. It was one of those rare moments where the entire hall seemed to hold its breath together. Booking Tips for Future LSO Concerts If you missed this one, don't worry!
