Beloved Across Generations: Mamma Mia!
The first musical we're taking a look at is "Mamma Mia! "🪩💃🏻
Mamma Mia! is a jukebox musical built around the songs of the Swedish pop group ABBA.
No matter the city or the theatre, it has been loved by audiences of all ages all around the world ❤️🔥
To briefly introduce the story,
the musical follows Sophie, who invites three of her mother's former lovers to her wedding,
leading to a heartfelt tale of love, conflict, and family.
Since its premiere in London in 1999, the show has been performed in more than 400 cities worldwide for over 20 years 😯
What makes this production even more special is the creative team behind it produced by Judy Craymer and directed by Phyllida Lloyd.
In the UK, the musical has toured many different cities, and one of the biggest attractions of the tour is that each production features local casts, allowing audiences to meet slightly different versions of Donna and Sophie every time 👍🏻
In particular, venues such as Edinburgh Playhouse and The Lowry stand out as iconic theatres in their cities.

Our final pick is The Phantom of the Opera 🎭
Like Les Misérables, it is often listed as one of the world's four greatest musicals.
The show is based on the novel by Gaston Leroux and was composed by the legendary Andrew Lloyd Webber — widely regarded as one of his finest masterpieces 🤩
To briefly introduce the story,
set in the Paris Opera House, it tells the tragic tale of a mysterious masked man who falls in love with the young soprano Christine 🥺
London Theatre
As one of the most classic and iconic musicals of all time, it's hard to find anyone who hasn't at least heard of this show!
One of the highlights is, of course, the famous chandelier scene,
which is why the musical is usually staged in large theatres 💡
When performed at traditional venues like Opera House Manchester, even touring productions feel just as grand as the original.
The show has also explored many different formats, including collaborative tours with Birmingham Rep and gala concerts at the London Coliseum 👏🏻👏🏻
