Boston's Hidden Day Trip Spot: Jamaica Pond
After two weeks in Boston, I've visited most of the famous tourist spots. But after being busy every day, I was getting tired physically and mentally, so I needed a quiet place to rest. That's why I found Jamaica Pond. Jamaica Pond is located a little outside of downtown Boston, but its quiet and peaceful atmosphere makes it the perfect place to take a break from the noise of the city. πΏ The charm of Jamaica Ponds Jamaica Pond has been a favorite retreat for Bostonians since the late 19th century. The biggest attraction here is the natural beauty. The green grass and trees surrounding the wide lake, and the clean air help relieve the stress of everyday life. π³ Since there aren't many lakes in Korea, it was a rare experience to be able to see such a nature-friendly lake, and I learned that it has a different charm from the sea or rivers. How to get there πΆββοΈ Jamaica Pond is easily accessible by Boston's public transportation. Boston Subway Orange Line β Get off at Green Street Station β About 15 minutes on foot Boston public bikes (Blue Bikes) β Return to storage near Jamaica Pond β About 10 minutes on foot (Blue Bikes offers unlimited ride memberships for tourists for about $10 per day. If you plan on riding more than 30 minutes, we recommend the one-day unlimited ride pass! Blue Bikes website) Activities you can do π Walking, running πββοΈ The trail along the lake is perfect for a walk or jog. I actually walked around the lake, but there were a lot of people jogging or running. The lake is bigger than you think, so you may have to walk for a long time, so we recommend wearing comfortable shoes! Boat Ride π£ββοΈ
