[Concluding] Don’t outsource your thinking, think directly

Recently, my YouTube, TikTok, and InstaReels algorithms mostly talk about success, money, and dopamine. Everyone wants success and money, and I think it's natural for humans to be obsessed with them. Dopamine seems to be in the same context in terms of small work, big reward. What's really interesting is that these are very similar to the work of outsourcing thoughts.
What does it mean to outsource thinking? It means to entrust the thinking that we should be doing to others. This comes to us in the form of advice, books, nagging, lectures, and motivational videos. Let's say we have to make a decision. Normally, we would think and think again among numerous options or correlations to make that decision. Now, we often leave it to ratings and reviews or algorithms to make the decision.
It is outsourcing my thoughts, not my judgment. Of course, outsourcing is not a bad thing. We don't have to spend time and energy on things that we don't necessarily have to do. However, if we hand over the power of choice to important decisions, can we call it personal judgment? This is connected to the concept of free will, and in some ways, it reminds me of this article that I read in 2014 and was so impressed that I still keep it.
These days, we are a generation that can easily find our destinations without asking anyone, as long as we have the Google app. But in other words, we are also a generation that has "lost the opportunity to get lost." "I am happy that I can find my way back even if I get lost. But many young people today have never been lost. They just follow apps like Google Maps. I think it's amazing that they have never been lost in their lives."
At this time, AI and many of the services we knew had not yet been released. Old people are gaslighting young people. You might think so, but the ability to think for yourself will become increasingly necessary. I also get a lot of questions when I give lectures at universities, companies, or groups recently. It's about things like, "Will AI really replace humans?" Some say, "People who use AI won't be replaced, and those who don't use it will be replaced." Personally, I think we should add 'think for yourself' in front.
If you start using something out of habit because others are using it, it is no longer a privilege or ability. Thank you.
