Three-line summary of Professor Andrew Ng’s visit to Korea (Kakao, Seoul National University)

Haebom
Professor Andrew Ng visited our company. Instead of bringing something theoretically or factually new, what really stood out was his advice to stay consistent and not get swept up by trends. In his lecture at Seoul National University, he focused more on fundamental principles and application, while at Kakao, it was a valuable session for sharing lessons learned.
Artificial intelligence and deep learning will guide humanity toward a universally better future.
That’s why we need to develop it with an even greater sense of responsibility.
Additionally, universal education must go hand in hand.
LLMs can address a wider range of problems than expected, from everyday issues to complex systems.
They will become as personalized as personal computers or smartphones.
AI models for professional use and those for general use will develop in different directions.
Startup ideas have to be concrete.
Definition of a concrete idea: It should be clear enough to immediately act on, with well-defined tasks and goals, and be capable of being validated as right or wrong.
Idea → Idea validation (1 month) → Recruiting the team (2 months) → MVP development (3 months)
Pre-seed investment and the following investment/development cycle (12 months) — within about 1.5 to 2 years, the business's fate should be clear.
He himself worked at big tech companies (Google, Baidu), but as they grew larger, it became hard to move quickly and realize new ideas, which led him to set out and start his own business.
Don’t get caught up in trends, just keep at what you've been doing steadily. Technology is just seasoning.
Many different AI services have come out, but some only succeed briefly before disappearing,
or collapse under their own weight when they become unmanageable. In the end, consistently working in your own field leads to better results. Don’t waver.
Apps without unique, differentiated technology might seem to grow rapidly at first, but their downfall comes just as quickly, making it hard to build a lasting business.
For services developed going forward, rather than providers offering everything, it’s crucial to make it easy for users across all fields to customize and adapt things to their needs.
Low/No-code tool is the way for customization
