Image Creation Prompt Basics

We continued to learn the basic principles of prompt engineering in the previous guide. Applying them to image generation:
Set clear goals: Clearly define the specific features of the image you want. For example, clarify specific elements such as the landscape, characters, and colors.
Use detailed descriptions: Describe the details of the image in your prompts. For example, "A bright beach with a blue ocean view."
Use creative expressions: Use emotional or creative expressions to create unique images. For example, “fairy in a dreamy forest.”
How to Write Effective Prompts
Use clear keywords: Be clear about what keywords will be the key elements of your image. For example, “mountains,” “ocean,” “city.”
Style and Mood: Specify the style or mood of the image. For example, "Realistic", "Abstract", "Fantasy", etc.
Specify color and lighting: Include the feel of a specific color or light in your prompt. For example, “sunset light,” “pastel colors,” etc.
Latest research and development trends
Fine-grained image manipulation: Recent research is improving the capabilities of fine-grained image manipulation, such as modifying only certain parts of an already generated image.
Integration of Natural Language Processing: The combination of natural language processing and image generation technologies is enabling more sophisticated and natural image generation.
Customized generation: Systems that analyze a user's past input data and suggest image styles that match that user's input are also being studied.
There are models specialized for various types of drawings, such as Stable Diffusion, DALLE-3, and FIREFLY, so there are no model-specific prompts. Some services, such as Midjourney, have their own abbreviations and commands because they provide services through Discord, but they are no different in that they require detailed and clear instructions like the one above.
Recently, a method called Negative Prompt has emerged that specifies what you do not want to be expressed in the image generation. This prevents various issues such as sexual content or text, squashed hands, and racism, and acts as a blacklist to help users obtain the image they want.
Good options to use when creating images
1.
Specificity
Purpose: To clearly describe the details of an image to achieve the desired result.
For example, it is effective to be specific, such as “A black cat sitting under an autumn tree.”
2.
Size
ex)
"1024×1024" (1:1, square)
"1792×1024" (wide, about 16:9 ratio)
"1024×1792" (tall, about 9:16 ratio)
3.
Image Type
Options: You can choose from various styles such as Photo, Oil Painting, Watercolor Painting, Illustration, Cartoon, Drawing, Vector, Render, etc.
4.
Characteristics & Background
Character: You can specify gender, skin color, hairstyle, clothing, etc.
Background: You can specify colors, objects, scenery, time of day (day/night), etc.
5.
Including Text
Options: You can include any text you want within the image, and specify the content, font, size, position, etc. of the text.
6.
Color Specification
For example, you can explicitly specify colors, such as “red car”, “illustration with blue background”, etc.
7.
Complexity Control
Example: You can control the complexity of your image by using words like “simple”, “detailed”, or “complex”.
8.
Emotion and Expression
Examples: You can describe the facial expression or emotional state of a person or animal, such as “happy dog” or “sad woman.”
9.
Art Style Specification
Note: While it may reference the style of a particular painter or art movement, it may not directly reference the style of any recent writer or artist.
10.
Multiple Objects
Example: If you want to include multiple objects, such as “blue bananas next to red apples and green pears,” list each object explicitly.
11.
Combination and Interaction
Example: If you want two or more objects to interact or combine in a particular way, such as “a cat playing the piano” or “a bird sitting on a tree,” describe that interaction explicitly.
