Why I buy NVDIA every month

TikTok's parent company ByteDance purchased about 100,000 A100 and H800 units (the H800 is a reduced version of the H100), each at about $10,000.
A100, H100, and the like are high-performance GPUs made by Nvidia.
With regulations on Chinese companies kicking in last September, I technically couldn’t buy them... but I just got the ones I ordered back in August.
So what about Nvidia’s latest GPU, the H100?
Its performance surpasses any AI computing unit available today.
An H100 GPU is mounted per rack → each rack consumes 3,300W of power
The price is outrageous too—tens of thousands of dollars (current market price...)
Even so, there are so many orders for the H100 that it’s impossible to meet demand.
The only thing that could be called a substitute right now is the TPU, but in reality there’s no real alternative.
Even if substitutes do come out, would they match Nvidia’s performance? Pretty much impossible.
As AI becomes more common, computations get more complex, and models get larger, GPU shortages will keep happening.
