Bridging Generative AI and Traditional Manufacturing: Breaking the Wall of Production in Advanced Manufacturing AI Generative AI is advancing rapidly, ushering manufacturing and design into a new phase. High-value sectors such as aerospace and automotive are accelerating efforts to build digital twin infrastructure that keeps virtual models and physical manufacturing operations in sync in real time. At the same time, the design of streamlined forms and free-form surfaces has become a critical area, where precision and real-time input from designers can determine a project's success. The market now demands more than generated geometry; it needs manufacturing-ready data that can be used directly in production. fAI.systems is responding with a manufacturing AI solution that reconstructs AI-generated 3D mesh data as editable, spline-based CAD data, connecting generative AI with real-world manufacturing. Daedeok Innopolis Hosts Deep-Tech Startup Competition… fAI.systems Takes First Place in AI Division
The Daedeok Innopolis Headquarters of the Korea Innovation Foundation held the 2026 Daedeok Innopolis Deep-Tech Startup Competition in Daejeon from September 1 to 3 as part of a broader startup and investment activation week. The competition focused on two strategic sectors, AI and biotechnology. fAI.systems, led by CEO Jongkwang Sohn, won first place in the AI division and received the top award. The winning company was awarded KRW 10 million in commercialization funding, along with access to potential investment opportunities of up to KRW 500 million. fAI.systems is developing technology that converts 3D data generated by AI into CAD data that can be used in engineering and manufacturing. The company aims to address the "engineering bottleneck" that prevents AI-generated 3D concepts from moving directly into downstream product development and manufacturing workflows. The company has also established a family-company partnership with the Korea Aerospace Research Institute and previously showcased its technology to manufacturing and aerospace industry representatives at the Smart City Innovation Showcase in Seattle, Washington.

fAI.systems Demonstrates ‘AI Design Automation’ at U.S. Smart City Innovation Showcase
fAI.systems showcased its generative AI-powered 3D design automation technology at the Smart City Innovation Showcase held at the Seattle Convention Center. The event, jointly hosted by the Korea SMEs and Startups Agency (KOSME) and the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Seattle, brought together 15 Korean startups specializing in future urban technologies, including autonomous patrol robots and next-generation nuclear energy. Around 200 representatives from global companies such as Microsoft, local government agencies in Washington State and Seattle, and venture capital firms attended the event. fAI.systems demonstrated technology that converts AI-generated 3D geometry into editable CAD models suitable for manufacturing. The company says its technology is particularly well suited to complex, curved forms that are difficult to handle with conventional LLM-based generative approaches. According to fAI.systems, the technology is designed to extend generative 3D beyond gaming and visual content into advanced manufacturing applications such as aerospace. During the event, the company also met with representatives from Boeing, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and the Allen Institute to explore potential technology partnerships and deployment opportunities.

Applying AI Design to Aerospace: fAI.systems Selected as KARI Family Company
fAI.systems (CEO Jake Sohn), a company developing AI-based 3D design software, has been selected as a 2026 Family Company of the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI). KARI's Family Company program identifies firms with technology applicable to the aerospace field and supports research collaboration and commercialization, giving participants access to technical exchange, joint R&D, and testing and verification facilities within Korea's space industry ecosystem. fAI.systems develops software that automatically converts 3D mesh data generated by generative AI into editable, spline-based (NURBS) CAD drawings. The technology extracts and restores curve information capturing a product's contours and design intent, then cleans up the noise produced during generation to reconstruct the data into machinable drawings. According to the company, AI-generated 3D data has until now been difficult to edit, verify, and manufacture, so it was used mainly for visual content such as games and animation rather than in precision manufacturing. fAI.systems says its technology lets users modify an AI-proposed shape and carry it through to production, cutting the time and cost of manual 3D modeling, automating design work at manufacturers and industrial design firms, and supplying training data for physical AI development. The company was selected for the pre-startup support programs of both KAIST and KARI in May 2025, and established as a corporation in September that year, when it was also admitted to KAIST's startup incubator (Global Studio, 2nd cohort).

KAIST–Daejeon Global Startup Anchor Showcases 2nd Cohort Results
KAIST Global Studio, a university-anchored global startup platform that combines KAIST's research capabilities with Daejeon City's startup support policies, unveiled the results of its 2nd cohort at the "Impact Day" event held on its 2nd anniversary. The cohort consisted of 10 deep-tech companies — 4 returning from the 1st cohort and 6 newly admitted — that demonstrated tangible outcomes over the past year across technology validation, revenue, and investment. fAI.systems was featured as one of the 10 cohort companies, presenting its image-model-based drawing processing solution that restores AI-generated raw data into editable design drawings. CEO Jake Sohn shared that the company is in discussions with the Korea Aerospace Research Institute on building an in-space self-sufficient system, with plans to evolve from a data supply business into a SaaS player operating as an add-on to existing CAD programs. Going forward, KAIST Global Studio will pursue its "3.0 vision," strengthening its inbound hub function to attract overseas deep-tech companies to Daejeon, while continuing to support cohort companies like fAI.systems on their path to global growth.

Series Ventures Launches 17th KIBO Venture Camp, Selecting 9 Innovative Startups
Series Ventures, an accelerator focused on Korea's southeastern region, has launched the 17th cohort of the KIBO Venture Camp in partnership with the Korea Technology Finance Corporation (KIBO). The kickoff was held on May 5 at Google Startup Campus in Seoul, marking the start of a roughly 3-month acceleration program that combines KIBO's technology evaluation infrastructure with hands-on mentoring from a private accelerator. fAI.systems was selected as one of 9 startups joining this cohort. Throughout the program, participating companies will receive tailored business coaching, mentoring, and investment consulting, with opportunities for direct and follow-on investment as well as access to domestic and international investor networks. The program will conclude with a Demo Day, where fAI.systems and the other startups will showcase their technologies and business models to industry partners and investors.
