How To Use Checkmate

Below steps are all you need to know :)

Step 2. Purchase a service and fill out the Tally form

Step 3. Fill out the Tally form
Fill out the Tally form as an application. This form collects information about your conditions and preferences for housing.

Finished submitting the form? You will receive a customer dashboard by e-mail
Step 4. Get a Customer Dashboard

If you did not get the payment confirmation email in 24 hours, please contact us through email (official@checkmatekorea.com)
The dashboard will be sent usually two weeks before your desired move-in date, as that's when there are most rooms available

What is a Dashboard?

A dashboard is a personalized Google spreadsheet provided by Checkmate that helps customers manage their accommodation booking process.
It guides you through checking service updates, viewing available rooms, prioritizing your choices, and entering the necessary contract information for a smooth booking experience.

What is a Checkmate Paper?
Here is an example of a Checkmate Paper that you will receive.

Step 5. Check Room List & Write Your Priorities
Open the “Room List” notion page to view available rooms.
1. Visit Checkmate Paper for room details.
2. Choose 5 preferred rooms and note their codes.
3. Enter these codes in the “Priorities and Room Code” section on your dashboard.

Step 6. Fill in the Contract Information
Open the “Room List” notion page to view available rooms.
Upload Passport Copy:
Convert your passport image to a link using imgbb.com and paste the link on the dashboard.
Move-in Date:
Format as YYYY-MM-DD (e.g., 2024-01-01).
Contract Period:
Specify duration (e.g., 5 months, 1 year).
Provisional Payment Method:
Choose Wise or PayPal.
Arrival Date & Time:
Provide exact date and time (e.g., 2024-02-02, 4 pm).
Main Contract Payment Method:
Choose Cash, Wise, or PayPal (cash preferred).
Complete all fields and submit. Changes cannot be made after submission.

Step 7. Confirm Your Room
Checkmate and the Real-estate Agent will confirm room availability.
You will be assigned “The very room only for you” based on your priority list (1st to 5th choice).
Check room details in the “Basic Information” section: deposit, monthly rent, maintenance fee, move-in date, address, area, and contract information (agency details, provisional deposit, etc.).

Step 8. Sign a Provisional Contract on dashboard

Check the amount of “Provisional Deposit” in the “Contract Information” section.
2.
Send the money to Checkmate using your chosen method (Wise or PayPal).

Prove payment by uploading a screenshot to imgbb.com and pasting the link in the “Provisional Contact Confirmation” section.
4.
Checkmate will transfer your payment to the Landlord. You can view this in the “Check to Landlord” section.

Step 9. Main Contract Information

1.
Confirm the date for the main contract with the real estate agent based on your arrival schedule.
2.
If the schedule is suitable, click the confirmation button (no rescheduling after this).
3.
If changes are needed, contact Checkmate via email or Kakaotalk
4.
Prepare the remaining money for the main contract: remaining deposit, first month’s rent, and agent’s fee


Depending on the service you purchased, you will receive translation & money transfer help from Checkmate!
Important:
Bring cash if possible (preferred by landlords).
Double-check the “Contract Information” section for agency details and payment amounts.
Complete all steps accurately to ensure a smooth process.
*Depending on the real estate we visit instead of you, you may have to pay an agency fee
