FAQ
Q: Is there food or beverage?
A: Eastern vegetarian and vegan-friendly foods will be provided. No meat and alcohol permitted.
Q: Will there be accommodation?
A: No accommodation is provided. We suggest booking a hotel near the center. However, the meditation hall is open 24/7; if you are physically and mentally strong enough, you are welcome to sit overnight.
Q: Is there dress code?
A: Avoid brightly colored clothes, heavy makeup, strong perfume, and excessive accessories. In particular, you should not wear sleeveless tops, mini skirts and short pants. You can not wear shoes or walk around barefoot inside the temple. Please bring extra pairs of socks.
Q: What shall I bring to retreat?
A: For the Winter retreat, the average January temperature in Seoul ranges from -5°C to 5°C (23°F to 41°F). Indoor heating will be provided, but bring warm layers for sitting practice. Pack thermal innerwear, loose warm pants, sweaters, socks, a shawl or blanket, and a hat for outdoor activities.
For the Summer retreat, the expected average August temperature in Seoul ranges between 26 and 35 Celcius (80 and 95 degrees Fahrenheit). We have enough ventilation and air conditioners. Bring a few pairs of loose pants, shirts, socks, innerwear, and anything else to cover yourself to avoid becoming cold during sitting practice.
Avoid fragrances to maintain a scent-free environment. Stay hydrated, and dress modestly for communal comfort.
