Why We'll Never Stop Living This. About us.

About UglyTool Co.

We didn't set out to build garden tools. 😳
We set out to keep growing food. Strawberries, in particular, for young boys growing up on that poor Strawberry jam from the shops..
For years our backyard has been part vegetable patch, part workshop, part testing ground. Every season brought new lessons. Some arrived through pure Mercy. Most arrived disguised as mistakes.
Over time we found ourselves modifying tools, refining systems and paying attention to small details that seemed to matter more than they should.
Eventually those observations became products. We scratched our own itch.

The Team

Rachel

The practical voice.
Part grower, part reality check.
Rachel has a remarkable ability to instigate complexity that shouldn't exist and quietly ask why we're doing things the easy way. While this sounds harsh, she's always plumped for the *best* option, not the easiest.. (yes, I get that inconsistency!)
Many of the best decisions around here started as uncomfortable questions.🙄 and pure Grit. 💪

Flynn & Tom

The next generation of quality control. 🧐
The older boys have spent enough time around gardens, tools and workshop projects to know when something is awkward, overcomplicated or simply no fun to use. Something about the *D-Gen* 😳 tells us we're gonna get honest feedback...
They've also contributed a healthy number of unexpected ideas.

Mako

Chief soil inspector.
Still working on his qualifications.

Wade

...Who loves farming so much he gardens for fun! 😍
For years, Wade has used the family garden as a testing ground for ideas, tools, and occasionally his own patience. Some hints came from the Farm to the Garden, and plenty the other way too.
The goal has never been to reinvent gardening. 👨‍🌾
It's simply been to remove a little friction from the work and make it easier to keep showing up season after season. "Life ought to be Tasty" sounds like him.
Everything sold by UglyTool Co. began as something he wanted to use himself. Can't help himself.
UglyToolCo is a small family business.
Most days we're growing vegetables.
Sometimes we're welding tools.
Sometimes we're packing orders.
Occasionally we're doing all three at once.
