TL;DR
Why We Build TWO Broadforks..

The 2nd-Gen Aussie Broadfork
A broadfork opens and loosens soil without turning it -
..so air, water, and roots can move deeper.

EARLY RELEASE !
FIELD-TESTED & READY TO ROCK.

..More-Fork Field notes:

Notes gathered over years, not weekends.
A few passes in, you realise you haven’t stopped, can still talk — and think.
The tines don't all engage at the same depth. That's like half the amount of initial pressure needed!
That means the soil releases, fractures, in stages when lifting, instead of locking up all at once.
It reduces that "stuck halfway" feeling, especially in heavier soil.
Those short tapered points on the tines shear soil away from flat surfaces, less soil will stick.
No resetting your stance. No dragging it back out to walk around it.
No clearing clay every second go. No clearing clay every second pull.
this one requires a VIDEO of the position change..
The ground opens more easily with each pull.
It lifts in stages, & keeps you moving.
.... and on the second pass, you'll find you're on the way to 'Gardening Australia' soil! ... it's starting to get easy!
Each pass leaves a clean line of soil, ready enough to plant.
No doubling back or guessing what you missed..
It helps topsoil grow in one direction: upward!?!
A broadfork loosens soil without flipping it over. The compost-rich surface stays where it belongs, while each crop adds a little more organic matter to the layer that feeds the next.
While air and moisture penetrate deeper, inviting sub-soils to host roots, microbes and worms. Win!

You settle into a pace and it holds.
The tool disappears from your thinking.
You focus on the flow now.
Finally, a Broadfork design that lets your body move naturally around it, and not be constrained by it.
When a tool respects your effort, rhythm follows. ..and now you get your creativity back. no stress!
Yes, it's a heavy tool. But it's also designed to stay outdoors for years, and still be picked up where you left off... ( A call-to-action if you will..)
By the end of the bed, the difference is visible.
That was quick! a bed done already?! deeper than a Rotary-Hoe, easier than a Spade..
big seedlings and plants can mostly go straight in!
The soil is opened deeper than it usually gets.
Air and water have somewhere to go. Roots and worms will follow.

All that expensive organics are mixed gently into topsoil
Subsoils are brought up slowly to breathe and give a new contribution..
Soil moisture is protected by preserving capillary movement in soil, minimally disturbed..
In a couple of plantings, the soil starts to behave differently.
Broadfork-ing once a year helps.. but you could before each Season, or even each Planting..
Broadforked soil really does maintain a high "Composting" state..
...Your plants will say 'thank-you' !!
It doesn’t look dramatic.
Feeding your family properly rarely does.
…but the meals you'll share!
The feasts that stay with people..
Yes, there's the practical side. Income, mortgage, the gap we're all trying to close.
And feeding a family can feel invisible.
But there's a quieter pull here too.
..A sense of what a quality life actually feels like to live...
If you feel that… you know why you're here.
The question remains:
What might just happen when we take primary value back into our own hands?
and pass it on to our children??
A Tough-Soil Specialist Tool

A Bit of Madness +
A Lot of Method.

A Hat-Tip to the OG Gundaroo Tiller.
A broadfork tine design that's been worked, adjusted, and proven over decades.
We didn't reinvent it.
We refined it
with steel that dominates in the ground
Small changes… that stop the tool binding when conditions are sticky and tough.
So you can keep moving. Minutes are precious.
Different Systems. Same soil..

Will this change how you work your soil?

Whether you’re running deep mulch, no-dig, biointensive, or something in between… there’s a place for a broadfork.
A few simple patterns help you get the most out of it without changing everything at once.
"I'm no gardener..
just wanted to get the patch sorted..
Ground's coming good though."
