‼️ And finally discovered Google AI Studio
While implementing an MVP using various tools like Lovable, Firebase, and App Script, I repeatedly encountered limitations. Then, one day, my CEO said, "Google came up with something like this," and sent me the URL of Google AI Studio. It looked like a chat UI implementation of Gemini, so at first I thought it was just a feature of Google's web version of ChatGPT. However, after digging deeper, I discovered a new menu in the sidebar.
It was a category called Build .
"Build apps with Gemini"
It was literally a service that allowed you to create apps with Gemini.
At first, I didn't think it was much different from Lovable. The process of commanding the AI with Vibe coding and quickly producing results was similar. However, after playing around with it a little more, I realized it was definitely different.
Google AI Studio for writing code
The first thing that impressed me was the Google Spreadsheet integration. I simply gave it a spreadsheet ID and said, "Connect the spreadsheet and display it in card format." It instantly created a card-based UI, with tabs organized by category based on the sheets within the spreadsheet.
I ordered it to "create an automatic idea generation feature," and it automatically integrated Gemini and created prompts for me. I didn't have to write any code or configure complex settings to develop my MVP. The clean and intuitive UI/UX elements Gemini provides by default meant I didn't have to worry too much about design, which was incredibly satisfying.
And finally, the final straw that captured our hearts was the fact that it was “ free .”
Most similar services require a monthly fee and a certain amount of credits to use, but it was a burden to manage the large and small bugs that needed to be fixed. I expected that I would inevitably spend a lot of credits to fix and develop every detail. Furthermore, there was no guarantee that even if I spent all my credits asking questions and developing, I would achieve the results I wanted. Frequent errors would just waste my credits. But it was free ! I could keep asking questions and making changes as much as I wanted?
As the shortcomings of Loveable and other tools were gradually resolved in Google AI Studio, similar thoughts naturally arose within the team.

🧑🏻💻 So we started making it
This is how we began developing our own services without relying on outsourcing or developers.
At first, we started out simple, with minimal functionality. We simply connected to a spreadsheet, loaded card content, and displayed the cards on the screen. Then, we gradually added more features.
We added a button to generate ideas based on a selected card combination and displayed the results on the screen. We even added a step to concretize the idea by creating a custom business concretization template. Integration with Gemini was quick and smooth, and the UI was clean.
Even if you simply ask for what you want, AI Studio will create it for you.
Of course, there were many trials and errors, both large and small, during development. Data was sometimes output incorrectly, and connections sometimes broke. Errors even occurred within AI Studio. In fact, the most common questions were, "Please try again," "It didn't reflect," and "Why are you just telling me and not fixing it?"
But this time, it was different. Instead of waiting for developers to solve the problem, as we did when outsourcing, we debugged and solved it ourselves, creating the results. AI Studio didn't immediately deliver the results I wanted, but with persistence, we eventually achieved them. Even the trial and error gave us a strange sense of joy, a sense of "We're making this ourselves!"
By adding features one by one like that, at some point we had created the web application we wanted.
