# Parental emotional neglect and academic
procrastination: the mediating role of
future self-continuity and ego depletion

My final topic was determined as a factor that demonstrates or mediate the negative correlation between procrastination and ages. This paper took a significant role in one category of factor, the environment.

this paper argued that parent emotional neglect, ego depletion , futureself continuity, and academic procrastination is strongly related. The hypothesis were first, parent emotional neglect is positively correlated with ego depletion. Also ego depletion is negatively correlated with future self continuity. Third., Parent emotional neglect have negatively correlated with future self continuity. Also, they claim that each factors are somehow correlated with academic procrastination.

They took survey on adolescents and late adults and found that 

the mediating effect of future self-continuity in the relationship between parental emotional neglect and academic

procrastination in late adolescents was not significant (B = -0.001, SE = 0.01, LLCI

= -0.03, ULCI = 0.02). However, the mediating role of ego depletion was significant

(B = 0.25, SE = 0.04, LLCI = 0.17, ULCI = 0.32), and the serial mediating role of future

self-continuity and ego depletion was also significant (B = 0.01, SE = 0.01, LLCI = 0.003,

ULCI = 0.03). H2 was not supported, H3 and H4 were supported. These results indicate

that parental emotional neglect had an indirect influence on the academic procrastination of late adolescents through future self-continuity and ego depletion.
