Differences in Meta-cognitive Self-regulation Strategies Between Graduate and Undergraduate Students
https://www.hillpublisher.com/UpFile/202408/20240813180759.pdf This research paper talks about differences in procrastination with two groups, postgraduate students (PS)s and undergraduate students (USs) with prediction of self regulatory in metacognition as a mediator. The research was based on online survey through about 700 students using MSLQ (Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire) as a key. The research was solid about gap in procrastination is large. PSs are having higher ability in metacognition regulatory compared to Uss. The paper suggested that this is due to increase in academic literacy with more experiences in studying. Also, they mentioned misunderstanding in metacognition between students that procrastination increases creativity and higher quality in product. However, Ps students with more mastery-approach goal effects on the result in positive ways. Lastly, they mentioned active procrastination’s different point between two. Which conclude that PS students tend to use active procrastination by high self-efficacy while the others do active procrastination because of low enthusiasm and self regulatory. In my opinion, it is hard to confirm one concept as an all reason in decrease in procrastination as people get old. In that aspect, I liked how the research paper suggested difference hypothesis that might have caused academic procrastination in students in younger age.

Trajectories and influencing factors in adolescent procrastination behavior throughout the COVID-19 pandemic: a four-wave prospective longitudinal stu
The paper I would like to review today is called Trajectories and influencing factors in adolescent procrastination behavior throughout the COVID-19 pandemic: a four-wave prospective longitudinal study. The research was based on 4 waves of survey staring at 2020 June to 2021 October with over 1000 Chinese students. The overarching point of the article was to find impact of COVID-19 through childhood general procrastination. Over the 4 waves of surveys they took, procrastination slowly increased and mark the peak point on the third wave. This could be the evidence of rising in procrastination in COVID pandemics. Not only that they found the rising graph in procrastination, they also categorized types of procrastinators in adolescents into 3 types: low increasing, high decreasing, and moderate stable according to the statistic in rising/decreasing in procrastination patterns. Last but not least, they analyzed factors contributes to the results such as over parenting, screen time, and little or no work out. The solution they recommended to stop or decrease procrastination was to have adequate environments in family, lower screen time down to 3 hours, and have exercise 3 times a week. My opinion through out this paper was that COVID pandemic, especially in developing online classes, had gave us the importance in parental care in child's behaviors which shouldn't be over parenting but should have adequate emotional links between family.

Tomorrow Never Comes: The Risks of Procrastination for Adolescent Health
This research paper has high credibility and high impact factors in published group. Also the topic was closely related with my own theme in research paper. The main topic of the paper is finding several impacts of procrastination in adolescents and the reason in why do adolescent procrastination's higher than others. The writer claimed that procrastination is highly due to the failure in self emotional regulation. Low ability in self regulation in emotions, not being able to control negative emotions in brain, forms anxiety and depression which result in entering a cycle of procrastination as other numerous researches explained. The second main point of the paper was the effects of procrastination due to such regulation deprived through health. There was 4 main points each were addiction in media, bedtime procrastination, academic procrastination, and COVID pandemic. Since adolescent in this period weren't having enough development in the brain sections, the sensation seeking is reaching it's peak point. Lastly they mentioned importance of motivations and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as methods in curing procrastination and improve self regulation. The paper was closely related with my theme of the paper because we are both arguing in factors stimulate adolescents procrastination . https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11353834/pdf/ejihpe-14-00143.pdf

Procrastination and stress: Exploring the role of self-compassion.
Procrastination and stress: Exploring the role of self-compassion, had high credibility as a research paper and numerously cited by other research papers regarding to procrastination. So I thought it is the time to read a paper with high credibility even though the overarching theme is little bit different. The key point of this paper was proving self compassion as a element mediates positive correlation between procrastination and stress. Hypothesis was that the procrastination and stress has highly positively correlated and as the self compassion is lower, the higher this phenomenon occur because self compassion is taking a role of mediating two. The method of finding result was testing 4 independent types of groups to take survey in measuring GPS, SCS, and PSS each and comparing. The result was that procrastination and stress has positive correlation, while procrastination and stress both having negative correlation with self compassion. The research highlights the importance of self compassion in curing procrastination due to the stress. They also warned the vicious cycle in procrastination : because of low self compassion, stress increase, as stress increase, there are likely to procrastination important thing, and the self compassion gets even lower by the self blame in not completing the task. https://www.researchgate.net/publication/234130824_Procrastination_and_Stress_Exploring_the_Role_of_Self-compassion

Parental emotional neglect and academic procrastination: the mediating role of future self-continuity and ego depletion
My final topic was determined as a factor that demonstrates or mediate the negative correlation between procrastination and ages. This paper took a significant role in one category of factor, the environment. this paper argued that parent emotional neglect, ego depletion , futureself continuity, and academic procrastination is strongly related. The hypothesis were first, parent emotional neglect is positively correlated with ego depletion. Also ego depletion is negatively correlated with future self continuity. Third., Parent emotional neglect have negatively correlated with future self continuity. Also, they claim that each factors are somehow correlated with academic procrastination. They took survey on adolescents and late adults and found that the mediating effect of future self-continuity in the relationship between parental emotional neglect and academic procrastination in late adolescents was not significant (B = -0.001, SE = 0.01, LLCI = -0.03, ULCI = 0.02). However, the mediating role of ego depletion was significant (B = 0.25, SE = 0.04, LLCI = 0.17, ULCI = 0.32), and the serial mediating role of future self-continuity and ego depletion was also significant (B = 0.01, SE = 0.01, LLCI = 0.003, ULCI = 0.03). H2 was not supported, H3 and H4 were supported. These results indicate that parental emotional neglect had an indirect influence on the academic procrastination of late adolescents through future self-continuity and ego depletion. PAge- Differences in Academic Procrastination: A Cross-Sectional Analysis of High School and Postgraduate Students & Procrastination, depressive.
Today I read 2 different papers that is specifically related to the correlation of age and procrastination Difference: there were three main differences in method, focusing point, and participants in the experiment. The first paper was about simple correlations between age and procrastination rate, while the other one focused on relationships in age and procrastination rate but with third factor called isolation and depression to find rather those can be mediated with procrastination. The method they used was also varying even though both of them used the survey but with different methods of rating procrastination. Also the participants was varied with the first one only surveying one university's undergraduates students and high schoolers and the other one broadly surveyed between 20 to elderly. Additionally, the first paper had lower credit compared to the other one. I measured it with impact factor of the publisher. There is other 3 similarities in contrast like overall similar hypothesis and results and similar sources they used . The result of both cleared that procrastination increases after they became older so as the hypothesizes were. The resource they used were also basically alike. The most important thing are I learned was that basically every research papers indicate that procrastination increase in rising of age. This was not a great use for me because it is going to be harder to make review paper when all the results are basically same. So so my decision was to move my focus point from correlation between age and procrastination to the factors meditated this situation, which is rising up procrastination as the rising of age. Below there is a PPT that represent basically my writing today so you can check it below. https://www.canva.com/design/DAG4FbJU1mc/2wzTlownVtHwEgrm1278oQ/view?utm_content=DAG4FbJU1mc&utm_campaign=designshare&utm_medium=link2&utm_source=uniquelinks&utlId=h8de6dbaff0

Procrastination, Distress and Life Satisfaction across the Age Range-A German Representative Community Study
I've been searching for the correlations between the behavior of procrastination and other life habits and physical elements. This research was based on survey to find relationship between loneliness, life satisfaction, stress, sex, employment, age, and other various factors but focused hard on the age part. According to the research, the loneliness and dissatisfaction was highly related obviously, and procrastination was found more in younger range of age (14-29). Also males are tend to have higher procrastination rate, unemployment, the presence of description was also tend to result in more procrastination. It was helpful in hypothesizing factors that occurs procrastination with real statistics. However, what I really want to develop in this paper is to close up the range of age because 14-29 year is too wide and there might be differences in those ages. Also the paper mentioned the responsibility given to the employed older range of age was the point that declined procrastination, but I want to be more deepen on the factors that decreases procrastination in growing process.
