The 2nd_108 Temples, One Mind_July 25-28, 2025 - Records of 108 Temples, One Mind - K_Seon K_BuddhismThe 2nd 108 Temples, One Mind — A Healing Pilgrimage to Jiri Mt. Date: July 25–27 Accommodation: Seonwonsa Temple, Namwon Temples to Visit: Seonwonsa Temple, Cheoneunsa Temple, Hwaeomsa Temple This pilgrimage has been made possible through the kind support of one of my Bhikṣu friends, who currently serves as the head abbot of Seonwonsa Temple. He warmly welcomed the vision of the 108 Temples, One Mind program and offered his temple as the central base for our journey. With Seonwonsa Temple as our main lodging and spiritual hub, the Second Pilgrimage will also include a scenic mountain hike through Jeongnyeongchi Pass of Jirisan Mountain, situated at an altitude of 1,200 metres. The trail offers some of the most breathtaking views of Jirisan’s expansive ridgeline. We will hike toward Manbokdae Peak — a round-trip trek of approximately 4 kilometres, taking about two hours at a gentle pace. The two temples to be visited during this pilgrimage are Cheoneunsa Temple (泉隱寺) and Hwaeomsa Temple (華嚴寺) — both steeped in historical and spiritual significance. Cheoneunsa Temple (泉隱寺) A millennia-old temple founded during the Silla Dynasty, Cheoneunsa is quietly nestled along the Nogodan Trail of Mt. Jirisan. It is renowned for its elegant Suhongnu Pavilion, crystal-clear mountain waters, and the serene beauty of its natural surroundings. Hwaeomsa Temple (華嚴寺) Established during the Baekje Kingdom, Hwaeomsa is the principal temple of Korean Hwaeom (Avataṃsaka) Buddhism. As one of the most revered ancient temples in the Jirisan region, it is often described as a “treasure trove of national treasures”, being home to numerous National Treasures and Treasures of Korea. Still many things to be decided but I want to share a bit for you to come to me with suggestions. I will be back with more ideas. Thogu
