SUNGJOO FOUNDATION, a philanthropic arm of MCM, is proud to organize an opening event of the KIFT Alliance Forum at Museo Nazionale Scienza e Tecnologia Leonardo da Vinci in Milan, commemorating the 140th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Korea and Italy.
In response to the strategic vision of Seoul and Milan and the urgent call for international collaboration for shared prosperity, KIFT (Korea Italy Fashion Tech) Alliance will create a venue for further dialogue, bridging between fashion and tech experts. Top fashion-tech industry and academic leaders will meet and discuss the future of fashion, powered by digital technology, AI, metaverse, and other latest innovations to achieve sustainable growth at scale.

When Fashion Meets Digital Technology

Theme Companies that were digitally mature have outperformed competitors and the crisis acted as an accelerator for digital transformation. Digital technology such as AI and immersive technologies are playing a significant role in shaping the future of fashion experiences. Gen Z is also reshaping consumer preferences and driving the digital revolution in fashion. This session is to discuss the fashion industry’s mission critical digital journey and trends.

How AI Revolutionizes Fashion

Artificial intelligence (“AI”) unlocks exciting new possibilities for the fashion industry. Brands can blend the creativity of human designers with generative AI to create new fashion products and experiences. AI is revolutionizing fashion by augmenting creativity, improving efficiency, and enhancing the overall customer experience. This session will explore opportunities, challenges and latest use cases of AI in the fashion industry.

Session 3

Sustainable Fashion Innovation at Scale

Digital technology has a significant impact on fashion sustainability. It promotes sustainability by streamlining processes, reducing waste, and fostering transparency. The adoption of digital technology in the industry is gaining momentum. Sustainable fashion innovation offers an opportunity to reinvent fashion, fuel future growth, and bring positive change. This session will discuss about latest thinking to overcome challenges for sustainable fashion innovation at scale.

Mrs. Sungjoo Kim is a visionary. Mrs. Kim has launched the prominent brands including Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent, Sonia Rykiel and Marks & Spencer. In 2005, Mrs. Kim acquired MCM, a German luxury fashion brand founded in Munich in 1976. Under her leadership, MCM has achieved stellar growth expading business globally in over 40 countries and 700 stores. Previously, Ms. Kim served as the President of the Korean Red Cross for three years. She was also awarded an Honorary Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) by Queen Elizabeth II in 2015 for her contribution to strengthening bilateral ties between the United Kingdom and the Republic of Korea. Ms. Kim became the first female entrepreneur to be appointed as a member of ABAC, representing the Korean business community at APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) in 2013 and served in this post for 4 years. She holds three honorary doctorate degrees, from Amherst College (Mass., USA), Business School Lausanne (Chavannes, Switzerland) and University of the Arts London (London, UK). She was selected as a Global Leader of Tomorrow by the World Economic Forum in Davos in 1997 and received the Ethics in Business Award from the EU government in 2009. In 2012, she was listed in Forbes’ Top 50 Asian Business Women, selected as one of Asia’s 25 Hottest CEOs by. Ms. Kim is a passionate philanthropist and works with several non-profit organizations, including Asia House as a trustee member, the Global Summit of Women (GSW) as an International Planning Committee member, and numerous other humanitarian initiatives.
