Family Saved By Heroic Officers
HEROIC OFFICERS RISK THEIR LIVES TO SAVE FAMILY, INCLUDING A BABY, FROM CRASHING OVER PRECIPICE Story from Liz Williams' facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/share/r/1R9vhiMJRA/ Dear Liz Williams , I want to highlight and recognise the bravery of my husband Fire Officer Claudius Joseph who is attached to the Piarco Fire Station and also a member of the Defence Force, Private Brian Sayneeram of the who both risked their own lives, to rescue members of a family whose vehicle (which was driving ahead of ours). The vehicle veered off the Arima/Blanchisseuse Road close to the Asa Wright Nature Centre, and was hanging on to trees approximately 80 ft down a precipice, on the night of April 21st. Involved were three souls a one-year-old baby boy, his mother, and the mother's 62-year-old father in-law who was the driver. Thank God in the two vehicles driving behind them had a soldier and a firefighter--Private Brian Sayneeram of the Defence Force HEAD QUARTERS and Fire Sub. Officer Claudius Joseph of the Piarco Fire Station. They both sprang into action, descending down into the treacherous gully with no equipment and in inappropriate clothing. A few moments later, with baby in hand, Fire Sub. Officer Joseph emerged from the wreckage ascending and delivering the baby to safe hands atop. Right behind was Private Sayneeram who had rescued the baby's mother from the wreck. Both brave and courageous young men went back for the driver who was the last to be saved. Three persons were taken to Arima, then Mt Hope Hospital hospital with what seemed to be only minor injuries. God is good!! I thank God for saving these souls from death. I thank the Holy Ghost for directing these two men to be at the right place at the right time. The job that both men did without hesitation was commendable.
