뤼튼이 전면 무료화를 결정했다고 합니다. 저는 뤼튼을 계속 무료로 이용하면서 유료구독 서비스가 따로 존재하는 지도 얼마 전에서야 알게 되었을만큼 GPT와 비교해서 무료 이용 고객에게 혜자스러운 서비스를 제공한다고 생각했거든요. 그런데 그 마저도 전면 무료로 개방한다니.. 제가 그 업계를 잘 알지는 못하지만 모델 개발에 들어가는 인력과 노력과 자본이 만만치 않다는 것을 막연하게나마 아는 입장으로서 정말 쉽지않은 뤼튼 측의 결정에 놀라기도 하고 걱정도 되고 그러면서도 사용자의 입장에서 고마웠습니다. 이것저것 각종 AI 서비스 구독에 들어가는 비용도 만만치 않았거든요.
그런데 한편으로는 이런 궁금증도 들었어요. AI 서비스를 전면 무료로 개방한다는 것이 정확히 어떤 의미인지에 대해서요. 뤼튼은 AI로 비영리 사업을 함으로서 궁극적으로 얻는 이득이 머가 있게 될지.. 그게 궁금하더라구요. 사용자 입장에서는 한없이 고마우면서도, 제가 만약 그 업계에서 AI 서비스 개발을 하고 그것으로 수익을 내려고 하는 사람이라면 뤼튼이 곱게 보이지만은 않을 거 같았어요. 무료로 양질의 서비스를 제공하는 뤼튼이 번번히 비교군이 될 지도 모르니까요..
AI로 돈 되는 사업을 지향하는 샘 알트만과 도덕성과 공익성을 지향하는 openAI 이사진 사이의 갈등을 보면서 갑자기 뤼튼 이슈가 떠오르더라구요ㅎ

정말 좋은 부분을 말씀해주셨습니다. 얼마전에 뤼튼이 12월 부터 무료로 서비스를 오픈한다는 것을 보고 많이 놀랐는데요. 뤼튼의 경우 자체 모델이 없는 상태에서 뤼튼을 사용하는 유저의 수를 많이 확보하고 리텐션을 높여 플랫폼 비지니스를 하려는 것 같습니다. 실제로 이세영 대표가 얼마전 컨퍼런스에서도 AI 플랫폼 OS를 만들 것이라고 했구요.
다만 문제가 되는 것은 앞서 말한 것과 같이 API 비용이 만만치 않게 들텐데 투자도 뭐 160억 정도 받았으니 임직원 100명 기준으로 내년 초까지는 어떻게든 버틸 수 있으니 그렇게 무료로 모은 고객들이 뤼튼을 계속 사용하게 만들고 그것을 기반으로 LLM을 활용한 봇 판매, 강의 판매, 기능 판매 및 광고플랫폼 영업을 하지 않을까 조심스럽게 생각해 봅니다.
사실 사용자 입장에선 공짜로 쓰게 해준다는 것이 감사하기도 한데 최근 뤼튼 웹 혹은 어플에서 사용한 프롬프트를 가지고 맞춤영 메시지를 보내는 등 다양한 노력은 하고 있으나 아직까지 뾰족한 사업 아이템은 발굴 중인 것 같습니다. 저도 앞으로 뤼튼이 어떤 모습을 보여줄지 궁금합니다.
