Social proof is a psychological phenomenon in which people make decisions or take actions based on the behavior of others. It also plays an important role in UX/UI design, and can gain users’ trust and induce decisions through reviews, ratings, recommendations, etc.
Explanation
For example, on an online shopping website, a message like “1000 people have already bought this product” provides social proof to the user. This shows that other people have already chosen and bought this product, giving the user the belief that this product is popular and trustworthy. In this way, social proof is effectively used to help users make decisions and promote products or services.
Importance
Social proof plays a vital role in building users’ trust in a service or product. Especially online, where trustworthiness is even more important, social proof is a crucial element in improving the user experience (UX).
