The US and China are finally starting to take a mood of reconciliation. I personally expect that there will be various economic effects. The reopening issue may be revived again...
China and the US pledge to stabilize tense relations after US Secretary of State Antony Blinken visits China
It is the highest-level visit by a U.S. diplomat in nearly five years.
Blinken met with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday, resuming high-level communication between the rival powers.
Both sides agree that continued communication is the best way to manage differences calmly and prevent them from spiraling into conflict.
But China and the United States still have major differences, Blinken said.
Relations between the U.S. and China have soured over the Trump-era trade war, China’s exaggerated claims about Taiwan, and the shooting down of a Chinese surveillance balloon over U.S. airspace earlier this year.
The Blinken-Xi meeting covered everything from Russia's war in Ukraine and the fentanyl crisis in the U.S. to human rights issues in Taiwan, North Korea and China.
China rejects US offer to reopen military communication channels with China
High-level talks will resume and expand further
Blinken hinted that this visit is expected to lead to better communication in the future.
