Zoom CEO Eric Yuan was caught on internal company recordings asking employees to come into the office at least two days a week. It’s a claim anyone could make, but the problem is that the person making it was the CEO of a service that was synonymous with videoconferencing and remote work.
This is an issue that has become public after a recording was released in which he said that Zoom's platform makes it difficult to build trust among employees and makes it too friendly, making effective conversation and debate difficult.
The announcement was made at a company-wide meeting on August 3, 2023. In this regard, other tech companies are also shifting from remote work to office work. This is also happening domestically.
Questions to think about
What does it mean for Zoom, the leader in remote work, to require employees to come to the office?
Could the limitations of the Zoom platform actually be causing problems building trust among employees?
What do you think about the trend of other tech companies shifting from remote work to in-office work?
