With the spread of remote work due to COVID-19 and the increase in digital jobs, a new work culture called “quiet side hustle” is gradually taking hold in the United States. This is mainly evident in digital-related fields such as IT, marketing, and design.
'Side startup': These side jobs are also called 'side startups' and involve various digital-related tasks such as app development or Instagram management in addition to one's main job.
Labor-management conflict: However, as these side jobs spread, conflicts between companies and employees are also increasing. Some companies are moving to ban or limit them. In Korea, they are trying to control them through a clause prohibiting side jobs.
Legal Issues: If your 'quiet side hustle' actually uses up company time and resources, it can lead to legal issues. Therefore, it is necessary to set clear rules between employees and companies. If you use work time and resources to do this, it can be applied against you legally.
What about you? Are you already running a quiet side hustle? Or what do you think?
