This study investigated experts’ opinions on AI-based public speaking training tools to suggest directions for improving the effectiveness and design of such tools. Through in-depth interviews and two focus groups targeting 16 experts, we discussed their opinions on current commercial AI-based tools, the possibility of integrating them with existing coaching, and ways to improve the system. The results of the study showed that experts positively evaluated AI tools in that they help coaches focus on high-level skills by handling repetitive and technical parts of training. However, they pointed out that improvements were needed in terms of personalized feedback, easy-to-understand feedback, carefully selected feedback, and clear instructional design. In conclusion, the experts supported a hybrid model that combines AI-assisted practice and existing coaching.
