Launch of Amazon Kuiper Project

Haebom
Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, has recently entered the satellite internet field. He's developing a satellite internet service called 'Project Kuiper' and has launched two prototype satellites for this purpose. The goal of this project is to provide internet connectivity anywhere in the world. While Elon Musk’s Starlink is already leading in this area, Bezos is seeking to challenge that. Amazon holds a license requiring them to complete the whole system by 2029.
Low-Earth orbit satellite internet services like Kuiper and Starlink are facing strong criticism from astronomers and environmental groups. In the astronomy community, these services raise concerns about the difficulty of astronomical observation, while environmental groups worry about the increase in space debris and satellite fragments falling to Earth.
On top of that, following how Starlink has been used almost like a weapon in the recent Russia-Ukraine war, there are increasing concerns in some circles that communications networks and their power may become concentrated in the hands of a handful of private companies. (Link)
🤔 Something to think about 1: The future of satellite internet
How will Amazon compete with established services like Starlink, and what changes could Project Kuiper bring?
🤔 Something to think about 2: Regulation and licensing
How will the license requirement for Amazon to complete the system by 2029 affect things?
🤔 Something to think about 3: Satellite internet and astronomy
As satellite internet services grow, what kind of effects could they have on astronomical research?
