Personally, what struck me most was Dev Modeโ€”I bet every frontend developer and publisher was amazed watching it.
โ€ข
To build design tools that both designers and developers need, Figma introduced Dev Mode, a brand new workspace especially for developers.
โ—ฆ
Dev Mode offers developers the info they need quickly and efficiently, and lets them use the tools they rely on every day.
โ—ฆ
Dev Mode helps connect design and developer concepts, making it easy for developers to find and export the info they need.
โ—ฆ
In Dev Mode, code is completely redesigned to fit whichever language you're using.
โ—ฆ
Dev Mode lets you connect design files to your team's tools and code components.
โ€ข
You can link files, issues, PRs, and more to Figma components and designs using the GitHub plugin.
โ€ข
With plugins, you can work with tools like Jira, Linear, GitHub, and also use code generation plugins like AWS Amplify Studio, Google Relay, or Anima.
โ€ข
You can add design tokens and related links so developers can quickly access the information they need.
โ€ข
Supports diff comparison, so you can easily spot differences between design files and code.
โ€ข
With the VS Code extension, you can use Dev Mode features right in your code editor.
โ—ฆ
Dev Mode and Figma for VS Code will be free for everyone until the end of 2023, and will switch to paid plans starting in 2024.
โ—ฆ
A new plan just for Dev Mode access (for developers) will also be available soon.
