Microsoft's next standard font, Aptos, unveiled

Microsoft has announced Aptos as the successor to Calibri, its default font for 15 years.

Microsoft developed five new fonts, Bierstadt, Grandview, Seaford, Skeena, and Tenorite, and after gathering feedback from users, decided on Aptos.

Aptos is the new default font in Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel, and will be available to all users in the coming months.

The font was designed by type designer Steve Matteson, who was inspired by the town of Aptos in Santa Cruz.

Aptos is available alongside other capabilities in Microsoft 365, and will enhance software to make it more expressive and inclusive.
