Description
XRPL is the best tool that allows us to bring our creative ideas to life based on simple and efficient code writing compared to other Web3 platforms. We believe XRPL is the ideal tool for creating reliable services due to its speed, low cost, and proven stability, especially when compared to third-party platforms. The XRPL-based voting system NeoVote, which we proposed and developed, is a service and business designed for any group requiring voting, from small organizations like schools and companies to national elections. We aimed to overcome the trade-offs between speed, efficiency, and reliability through a Hybrid Trust Saving Solution that combines the XRPL chain and a central server. Our program, NeoVote, consists of features such as login, agenda creation, voting, and result aggregation, creating a platform where various members can express their opinions.
Problem
As a well-known global IT powerhouse, South Korea is renowned for its ability to quickly adapt to and utilize new technologies. However, there is one area where it remains very conservative: applying IT technology to crucial elections, such as presidential and parliamentary voting. We believe the reason why voting is still done manually is due to a lack of trust in information technology. People do not trust IT; they fear that their valuable vote could be manipulated on a server. Web3 and decentralization place the highest value on the "trust" of the digital ledger, relying on transparent transactions that are visible to everyone and systems that are secure against attacks. Moreover, tampering is nearly impossible according to the algorithm. This enables the core democratic values of free expression and equal rights to be realized as a service. Currently, blockchain is mainly used for digital assets. However, we aim to create a service that provides public value through blockchain. This is why we have developed NeoVote, which is a blockchain-based voting service using XRPL.
Solution
Tech1: Hybrid Trust Saving Solution
The Hybrid Trust Saving System is our proprietary solution developed to identify the trade-offs between efficiency, speed, reliability, and stability, enabling the implementation of an optimal, lightweight, and fast service. To achieve this, we thoroughly analyzed and reinterpreted the components and processes of voting. The most critical element to trust in voting is the voting records of the people. We store these voting records using the Memos Field within the XRP Payment. The users' agreement status is recorded on the blockchain, and it is displayed by matching it with the vote_id, the signature of the agenda. Since the voting log is permanently stored on the blockchain, it creates a clean service free from the risk of tampering. Other functions, such as agenda and login, operate within the backend system built with Django. The individual components of the Agenda (post) stored in the backend system, such as the title and content, are matched with the vote_id, enabling the service to function. Through this approach, we were able to implement an effective Hybrid Trust Saving Solution.

After testing each method, considering factors such as runtime, user satisfaction, security, and parsing convenience, we decided to adopt the proxy voting method. We are performing transaction creation on behalf of the user based on the frontend button requests.
