What rhythm does the term 'Guapacha Timing' used in Cha Cha Cha refer to?
Guapacha Timing is a syncopated rhythm used to replace the timing of the first step (usually a '2' count) in various figures of the Cha Cha Cha.
For figures where the normal timing is '2 3 4&1', the '2' count step is moved to the next '&' count, so the timing becomes '(2)& 3 4&1'.
•
In figures ending in Fan L Angle Position or Open Opposing Position, men can use this timing, while women can maintain their normal timing.
•
When using Guapacha Timing in Time Step, the foot positions for steps 1 and 6 are crossed behind in the Latin Cross Position.
