휘발성 오일은 빠르게 증발하여 피부에 매끄럽고 끈적이지 않은 느낌을 주기 때문에 화장품에 사용감개선 목적으로 많이 사용됩니다. 이런 원료들의 특징은 분자량이 작거나 Iso 구조를 가지고 있습니다.
실리콘 계열에서 주로 많이 사용되는 것은 D5 (Cyclopentasiloxane), D6 (Cyclohexasiloxane)이 있습니다.
탄화수소 계열에서는 주로 Isododecane, Isohexadecane을 이용하며 Undecane, Tridecane도 있습니다.
하지만 일부 원료에서는 휘발성과 관련하여 자극, 환경오염 이슈가 있을 수 있으니 참고하시기 바랍니다.

{50% Cetiol C5C + 26% Cetiol Ultimate + 24% Cetiol OE}를 혼합한 BASF Mix와 D5 사용감 비교시 유사한 퍼포먼스 나타냄.
