ChatGPT Brancher ("we", "our", or "the extension") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our Chrome extension.

# Information We Collect

## Analytics Data (Anonymous)

We use Mixpanel to collect anonymous usage analytics to improve the extension. The data we collect includes:

- **Anonymous User ID**: A randomly generated UUID that is not linked to your identity

- **Event Types**: Actions you perform (e.g., "Branch Created", "Settings Changed")

- **Extension Version**: The version number of the extension you're using

- **Language Preference**: Your selected language (English or Korean)

- **Settings**: Your chosen close action (Nothing/Archive/Delete)

- **Geographic Data**: Country, Region, and City (derived from IP address for geolocation purposes only; IP addresses are not stored)

## What We Do NOT Collect

We explicitly do NOT collect:

- ❌ **Conversation Content**: We never access or store your ChatGPT conversations

- ❌ **Message IDs**: We do not collect specific message identifiers

- ❌ **Conversation IDs**: We do not track which conversations you branch

- ❌ **Authentication Tokens**: We do not store or transmit your ChatGPT login credentials

- ❌ **Personal Information**: We do not collect names, email addresses, or any personally identifiable information

- ❌ **Browsing History**: We do not track URLs or your browsing activity

# How We Use Information

The anonymous analytics data is used solely to:

- Understand how users interact with the extension

- Identify and fix bugs

- Improve features based on usage patterns

- Track the number of active users

# Data Storage

- **Local Storage**: Your settings (language preference and close action) are stored locally in your browser using Chrome's storage API

- **Session Storage**: Authentication tokens are temporarily stored in your browser session only and automatically cleared when the session ends to facilitate branch operations and are never transmitted to external servers

- **Analytics Storage**: The anonymous user ID is stored in your browser's localStorage by Mixpanel

All data remains on your device except for the anonymous analytics data sent to Mixpanel.

# Third-Party Services

### Mixpanel

Mixpanel is configured with privacy-focused settings:

- IP addresses are used for geolocation but not stored

- URLs and referrers are not tracked

- No personal identifiers are collected

# How the Extension Works

ChatGPT Brancher:

1. **Accesses ChatGPT Requests:** The extension accesses ChatGPT’s in-browser API requests only within your browser context to identify authentication tokens required for creating branches. All operations remain entirely local—no data is transmitted externally.

2. **Local Processing (No Background Server Involved)**: All processing happens entirely within your local browser environment. No background server or external API operated by us receives any data.

3. **No External Transmission**: Authentication tokens and conversation data are never sent to our servers or any third party

4. **Uses ChatGPT's API**: Branch operations use ChatGPT's official branching functionality

# Your Rights

You have the right to:

- **Opt Out**: You may opt out of analytics by using a browser-level blocker (e.g., uBlock, Brave Shield) or by disabling Mixpanel tracking within your network settings.

- **Delete Data**: Uninstalling the extension removes all local data

- **Access Data**: The anonymous data collected cannot be tied back to you individually

# Data Retention

- **Local Data**: Stored until you uninstall the extension or clear browser data

- **Analytics Data**: Retained by Mixpanel according to their data retention policy

# Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of any material changes by updating the "Last Updated" date.
