Step Sync(Android)

How are my steps counted in Charlie?
Charlie is directly synced with Health Connect.
Your step count in Charlie always matches the step data retrieved by and stored in Health Connect
🔎 What is Health Connect?
Health Connect is Google's unified platform(app) for health and fitness data. When apps like Samsung Health, Google Fit, or wearables like Xiaomi and Garmin record your steps to Health Connect, Charlie automatically imports and displays that same data.
How do I connect with Health Connect?
✅ Sync Charlie ↔ Health Connect
✨Android 14 or higher
['Settings' App → Search 'Health Connect' → App permissions → Allow all permissions for 'Charlie']
*Health Connect is built in, so you don’t need to install the app separately.
✨Android 13 or lower
['Health Connect' App → App permissions → Allow all permissions for 'Charlie']
*You’ll need to install the Health Connect app manually from the Play Store.

Health Connect is linked, but my steps are still not showing (or does not match Health Connect steps data)
Even if Charlie ↔ Health Connect is connected, if your main health app (e.g. Samsung Health, Mi Fitness, etc.) is not linked with Health Connect, your step data won't be recorded.
In this case, follow the steps below to link your main health app with Health Connect.
✅ Sync Samsung Health ↔ Health Connect
['Samsung Health' App → More (⋮) → Settings → Sync with Samsung Cloud]
['Samsung Health' App → More (⋮) → Settings → Health Connect → App permissions → Samsung Health → Allow all]
✅ Sync Mi Fitness ↔ Health Connect
['Mi Fitness' App → Profile → Third-party data → Health Connect → Connect → Allow all]
❗
Important
* Connecting too many apps to Health Connect can cause unexpected problems. ➜ It's best to connect only "Charlie" and your main health app.
* After linking your main health app to Health Connect, it may take 1–2 hours to sync data (up to 24 hours in some cases).

To speed things up, you can start a "Walk" workout in your main health app, walk for at least 10 seconds, and end the session (adding a workout helps data sync faster).
* Data recorded before connecting Health Connect will not sync. It's possible some steps from the day you start syncing may be 'lost'.
* If you want to sync steps from a wearable device, you must connect the wearable's companion app to Health Connect (e.g. Galaxy Watch → Samsung Health / Mi Band → Mi Fitness)
My steps in Charlie does not match my actual steps.
Charlie directly reads step data from Android Health Connect.
You can check detailed step data in: [Health Connect app → Data and access → Steps]

Data sync (data updates) is slow
Because Health Connect collects and aggregates data from multiple apps and sources, updates may not appear in real time and can take a few minutes to refresh/update.
Also, step data from wearable devices is first synced with the device's companion app before being sent to Health Connect.
To speed things up, open your main health app to ensure it's synced — this will help Charlie update faster too.
My steps aren’t syncing even after completing all the steps.
If both your main health app and Charlie are properly linked, you should see logs in the Health Connect app showing that both apps have recently accessed data (as shown in the image below).
If Charlie does not appear in the log, it means the app doesn't yet have access to your step data.
(After connecting your main health app ↔ Health Connect, syncing can take 5–10 minutes on average, and up to 24 hours in some cases.)
🚨 If Charlie isn’t showing up in [Recent access]
Go to [Health Connect app → App permissions → Charlie], make sure "Read steps" permission is enabled, then restart Charlie and check the logs again.
🚨 If your main health app (e.g. Samsung Health, Mi Fitness) isn't showing up in [Recent access]
* It may take up to 24 hours for data to sync completely. If it still doesn't appear after that, please contact the customer support of your main health app.
Try the following steps first:
1.
Make sure your network connection is stable.
2.
In your main health app, pull down the page to refresh (manually syncs data).
3.
Start a "Walk" workout in your main health app, walk for at least 10 seconds, then stop the workout. Adding a workout can help the data sync faster.
