In the play “A Raisin in the Sun” by Lorraine Hansberry used language techniques to convey Beneatha’s determination to pursue her dream as a doctor. (Topic Sentence)

For instance, when Beneatha declares “listen, im going to become a doctor, I’m not worried about who I’m going to marry yet” (Hansberry 50) It shows her personality of not letting anyone suppress her dream. despite the gender inequality and racism of 1950s America, Beneatha defies the sterotype that all women should be married, should stay home, and be economically dependent on a man. Her determination to be educated marks her need to be financially independent and educated. Furthermore, her tone of voice conveys determination, as she repeats the personal pronoun “I”, emphasising her desire to fulfil her dream
