Lesson 12: Where does energy come from?
Kinetic Energy - Energy that object has when in motion
Potential Energy - Energy that is stored and not being used
Thermal Energy -
the energy contained within a system that is responsible for its temperature
. (Kinetic)
Friction - two forces interacting/rubbing against each other
Gravitational Energy - Energy something possesses bc of its position relative to the ground (Potential)
L.o.C.o.E - in a closed system, energy cannot be created or destroyed, only transformed
Mechanic Energy - Potential + Kinetic energy
Sound Energy - Energy related to an objects vibration
Electrical - energy made from movement of electrons from one point to another
Chemical Energy -
the energy which is stored in the bonds of chemical compounds (molecules and atoms) (Potential)
Light Energy - Type of mechanical energy that can make light
potentional
gravitational - dart fall process
kinetic - dart fly
input - kinetic - pull/ fire
sound
metal ball
inut - kinetic
potential - input
kinetic moving
fly into cart - gravitational
sound
heat
oull back car
input -mechanica elastic
output -menchanic, sound heatr
bell
input electri
output - sound intneeded
waste mecnanical heat
Key Idea: ALL energy comes from the sun
Key Idea: Energy can be converted
Key Idea: Energy must be conserved
