# Lesson 15: Thermal energy transfer

## Ways heat is transferred

- Conduction

- Radiation

- Convection

> Insulator - object that does not allow heat to pass through

> Thermal Radiation

Transfer of heat without objects coming into contact w/ each other, or the use of a medium.
eg. energy of sun touching our skin.

> Thermal Conduction

Transfer of heat with the direct contact of objects.
eg. heating up a pan using a stove

> Thermal Convection

Transfer of heat through fluids (fluids are liquids and gasses)
eg. boiling water
